NORDAKADEMIE Purpose and Motivation
An entrepreneurial university in the best sense of the word
Our purpose, our motivation
NORDAKADEMIE is an entrepreneurial university in the best sense of the word
NORDAKADEMIE is the German University of Applied Sciences that:
- actively confronts the shortage of skilled workers in the economy
- by offering attractive study and further education programs
- and thereby driving the transformation of the economy.
The (inter)national recruitment of prospective students and the qualification of young people in future-oriented courses of study give them a long-term perspective and provide the fuel for transformation. At the same time, not only is knowledge imparted, but personalities are developed who are empowered to actively participate in companies and society in order to find the “right” path for themselves.
“With the economy, for society and with the students at the center”
Elements of added value
University and business closely interlinked
- The basis for this is practical integration through integration with companies, which runs through the entire university, from the course content and teaching formats (dual and part-time) to the shareholders.
- Culture of an entrepreneurial university with a focus on the target groups, an appreciative, creative, implementation-strong, solution-oriented environment, lean structures and the necessary pragmatism, combined with an understanding of the relevance of the offerings for our stakeholders.
- Active support for the transformation of the economy through tailored, relevant, application-oriented specialist training in the form of degree and certificate courses.
- Personal development of solution-oriented, creative, critically thinking, responsible talents for the active further development of companies.
- Modern, science-based didactics with a strong focus on participants, whereby lecturers act more as accompanying learning coaches and learning is (once again) designed as a social process that is defined by the interaction between fellow students, lecturers and rooms (physical and online).
- International structures for recruiting suitable talent as incomings to Germany and for training internationally active German companies in their foreign branches.
Research in the form of interdisciplinary “real laboratories”
Four departments: on the pulse of the economy
The research projects relevant to the university and backed by additional resources dovetail the interdisciplinary skills of the four departments of Computer Science, Engineering, Social Sciences and Economics. These projects are implemented across departments and in the form of business-related, application-oriented “real laboratories” with the aim of increasing efficiency in companies.
Possible focus topics for overarching research fields are, for example
- digitalization,
- artificial intelligence,
- smart technologies,
- user experience,
- sustainability transformation,
- decarbonization,
- psychology,
- human capital,
- systems engineering,
- etc.
Note:
Individual research projects are not affected by this, but are naturally not the focus of the university.
